Modern and Vintage

A snap of our window displays, one side is sleek, shiny modern with a fabulous arc floor lamp and the other is a vintage kids theme. I really like being able to mix the two worlds together. To me they enhance each others elements. ( Like the way the shop floor meets the reflection of the pavement through the angle of the glass)

The Rubix Cube Side Table has been very popular....understandably, but my heart belongs to the extremely old trike,  love it.

Iconic

My day of iconic feasting started with a breakfast of ham and eggs, made to the dulcet sounds of a Victor lawnmower, shortly followed by the wonderful aroma of fresh cut grass.
Morning tea - lamingtons, I did glam them up a tad but the added cream and strawberry jam was greatly appreciated!
Lunch was lamb (of course) Greek salad and garlic potatoes and Mum made a cheesecake for dessert.

There has been the odd drink consumed, but not in the fashion of this crew photographed in a Brisbane pub...what year do you think it is.....see who knows their fashion/style history.

Positive thoughts

I have been struck down with the flu and I am lying in bed for the second day.....thinking of all the things I am supposed to be doing.....I got up this morning determined to take my kids to first day of school and then go to work.....my body had other ideas......it was right, by the time I'd walked to the kitchen ( it's not a big house) hugged two children I was ready to lie back down.
Sometimes life seems to throw you a curve ball at the most inconvenient times and it would be easy to get all melancholy about it but really what will that achieve??

My Mum called in on her way to work and gave a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice, the gift in itself made me feel better. So here's to finding something you can do when you think you can't do anything.

Want....

Another beautiful day, I hope that you are able to absorb it in some way. However if you, like myself are probably spending more time wielding a tape measure and a sledge hammer doing renovations don't despair!!
Firstly - apologies for poor, grainy, image BUT I had to share this. I was going through books with a friend looking for inspiration for her home and then WOW this room.
I love the relaxed uncomplicated nature of this ensuite/bedroom. I immediately took a photo of the photo (as you do)  I can just see myself retreating to a room like this.
Have a nice week end what ever you do.

Ah Friday

I love Friday's, for many reasons, one being we have our market fresh fleurs in store so I get to play. I always try and have a some foliage, it's so easy to work with and makes such an impact. In particular I like using eucalypti cinerea - has a fantastic smell. ( It is the one at the back in the zince tub, the one at the front is Clethra, it has a few flowers too.) Enjoy your Friday.

Old and New

2012 here ready or not! Clearly I'm not quite ready as I am about to share my Saturday morning adventures and today is Tuesday (that's me whispering it) so already behind the eight ball!
Had an early start to the day, headed into Powerhouse Markets to catch up with Kara and Frankie and pick up some beautiful bits plus fresh herbs, bread, heirloom tomatoes and of course there was coffee, before, during and after!

Little Lucy Espresso, Ipswich Rd Moorooka, perfect halfway point for a really good flat white.

Arrived at Powerhouse Markets and the place is pumping! Pineapple anyone?

Found Kara and all her fabulous pieces, what is it about linen, porcelain and glass, mmmmm my happy place.

Talking about happy places, quick stop off for one more quite coffee to absorb the morning activities.

Last stop Flower Markets, check out these roses.....words fail me. So it's now 10am and I am heading back to the shop, not bad for a few hours work (yes work) x
