Simple Pleasures

Easter fun

Mother's Day prettiness

Simple pleasures wrapped in string

New stock in beautiful autumnal colours

Saying that most of us live a hectic crazy busy life, is not too broad a statement.  Seriously I don't know anyone that is looking for something to do on a daily basis. During our day we are often surrounded by chaos, be it traffic, work, a sporting event or even the groceries...that at times can be a game changer right there, isle 3...
Why am I going on about this? Because people this is why home is so important.  Create a haven that encapsulates you allowing the stress of the day to dissolve. Whether your home is a room, tent, caravan or mansion, don't allow the external composition deter you from making a few adjustments to the interior. It does not have to be major but think about what makes you smile or feel relaxed and introduce an element of that into your space. For me, it's plants, greenery, foliage and natural textiles. Linen, wool, leather, timber, glass any or all of them, love them.

Below is an image, (courtesy of TDF) that demonstrates how simple a space can be that imparts happiness. Happy Tuesday to you. x

Shop Windows

Found this shot of our windows while going through files the other day. The shop front was the reason I pursued the agent, I placed many phone calls to the agent about 197 Brisbane Street, every call he told me how long the current tenant had been there and that he wasn't going anywhere! and every time I replied with, 'yes, but that's the shop I want'. Until one day the agent said to me, well actually....
At the time the all the nickel trim was painted black and there was that much dirt and grime on the surround it wasn't until we started to clean it, we discovered it was black glass - very exciting afternoon that was. Inside the windows they had very old grey carpet and a wire cage thing in them, very fetching to passers by...
This shot is really about the glass component, taken through the day so lots of reflection but it is our very first window display.

and all things nice

There's nothing I love more than simple beauty. At home we are always discovering buried bottles and pieces of china in the back yard. Our collection of bottles is growing considerably and I can't part with any of them. It has become the norm for little posies in glass bottles to be placed throughout the house. My daughters now go and pick sprigs of rosemary and lavender and put them on their bedsides.
Simple ideas are often overlooked in seeking grandeur or making a statement, but look how simple this vignette is and what an impact it makes.
